Kiva Brew Pub - Review

Looking for a quiet place, away from all the chaos but within the city? Want to spend some quality time with your friends or the special one? Kiva Brew Pub on the second level of Season's Mall, Magarpatta, is that place hidden in a corner of the mall, but when you enter it turns out to be huge with indoor and outdoor seating. It is dimly lit which makes it cosier and the outdoor area resembles a roof top lounge amidst the residential apartments of Magarpatta City.

There were not many people, which was weird considering we visited on Friday night at about 10 pm. But that didn't bother us as we were having a great time at the open area. The ambience was perfect for couples with small candles lit on every table and light breeze tickling you. It was our 2nd anniversary and the place made it all the more romantic for us. They could also play some soft music. It was a last minute decision to give it a try and we sure were not disappointed.

Every celebration means food for us and Kiva Brew Pub had a decent list of cocktails and a range of delicious food items - simple dishes, nothing out of league and experimental. For starters, we had ordered our favourite classic Potato Wedges, Corn and Cheese Nuggets, and Canadian Poutine Nuggets along with Rosemary Tangerine Martini and Tequila Sunrise.

Corn and Cheese Nuggets was delightfully soft. However, I could rarely find a corn kennel in it. The dip that accompanied, Cocktail Sauce, was simply the best dip that could have been served. We ordered more of it and just devoured it alone.

Potato Wedges quantity was real good. Me being a potato lover and having a special inclination towards this classic dish, loved the amount of wedges with sprinkled herbs.

Rosemary Tangerine Martini was a mild cocktail of Vodka, Fresh Tangerine, Rosemary, Brown Sugar and Cherry Liqueur. It tasted nice for the first drink with the potato wedges. It had a nice tangy flavour which blended well with potatoes. I wanted to try their Forest Fire which is a mixture of Triple Sec, Vodka, Coffee and Mint. However, wasn't sure of how would coffee taste with potatoes and hence avoided it.

Tequila Sunrise was my second drink which was a mixture of Tequila, Peach Syrup, Orange juice and Mint. It was more on the sweeter side. I expected it to be little bitter and minty, which it clearly wasn't. However, it would be a nice drink for those who like it too mild and sweet. It tasted great but was not what I expected.

Canadian Poutine Nuggets was again a potato dish (Oh! I love potatoes to the moon and back). It was basically potato fingers loaded with cheese sauce, topped with jalapeños, olives (I couldn't find them though) and accompanied by a spicy salsa. The dip, Spicy Salsa, was too spicy for my taste. But, it would have been a delight for spicy stuff lovers.

My husband had ordered in house beers and he loved German Wheat and Apple Cider. I am not really a beer lover so I did not try them. He preferred Apple Cider to German Wheat.

We were not hungry for main dish but we just couldn't leave it at starters and we had to order something. For this specific segment, we ordered a single pasta dish thinking it would be enough for the two of us to share. Oh, we were so wrong.

We opted for Di Sicilian which was Fusilli pasta with garlic, basil, olive oil and tomato sauce. Even though the dish doesn't really look tempting, it was a blast of amazing flavours on our taste buds. And again the quantity, it was huge in literal sense. If we hadn't had hogged on the starters so much, we would have been more than happy with its quantity. Anyway, nothing wrong in getting more food. Is there? It was worth its price.

Now, we were done with everything except a wonderful ending note to our gastronomic anniversary dinner, especially when the desserts menu looks promising to take us sweet tooths on a new journey altogether. There weren't many dishes. Basically only two which we found interesting - Flaming Chocolzte Bulk and Mazagram, which was Rum laced coffee poured over ice cream and topped with chocolate.

We rounded up on Flaming Chocolate Bulk. It was a chocolate brownie with chocolate sauce and ice cream, flamed with Brandy. The Brandy part was intriguing. All eyes were on us when our server flamed our dessert. We couldn't taste Brandy in this sweet dish. It was similar to the Sizzling Brownie at Cafe Coffee Day.

At the end, we were over loaded, over stuffed, over enjoyed and we could fast for a week. That's how much we ate. It was a memorable anniversary dinner and we shall love to revisit to enjoy a drink or two with friends as well. If you have visited, do let me know what you think of it. Till then,

Keep smiling as it is the curve which straightens everything in life... :)

P.S.: Please excuse the poor images. The lighting wasn't good enough to click pictures from my phone.
