The United Sports Bar & Grill - Review

The United Sports Bar & Grill is a treat for all sport fanatics, it comes alive during a match. I had known this for long, thanks to IPL. This place had the most roars during that particular season to make its presence known. Reason? This place has a huge projection screen. No! I would like to rephrase my sentence. This place has a giant projection screen. Hence, all the screaming.

During one of those IPL seasons, I had decided I would give its food a try. Yes, I'm a foodie, all I think of is food, even in a sports bar. However, didn't get a chance to explore it, something or the other came up. Last evening, I finally got the chance and a perfect company to dig into the meny of this much talked about sports bar.

Unlike your typical 'sports bar', The United Sports Bar & Grill is not just about sports in total, but also caters to a wide spectrum of patrons. It is a decent place for executives from nearby area looking for a good meal or just post-work drinks for their meetings or dining outs. It is a casual all-day dining bar that features predominantly multi cuisine to suit the taste buds of all sorts of diners. And, the cocktails!!! The mixologist has come up with some real good creativity in this section. One can find a variety of cocktails (read variety of tempting cocktails) that they can be sure to get lost as to which one to order. We went during Happy Hours so we got 1 for 1 (same repeated cocktails). But, we exchanged our drinks so we had two of them for one's price. :P

Being a weekday, the place was quiet except for the ear blazing music. Hence, we could shout our lungs out, just for the fun of it. Our server, Ravi, was quiet a decent guy and was patient enough for us to decide. Yes, we took our own sweet time to decide our drinks and food.

We had first ordered Blue Rita and Thai High as our Happy Hour drinks. Blue Rita was a mixture of Tequilla, Triple Sec and Lime juice shaken with Blue Curacao while Thai High was a mixture of Lemongrass muddled with Vodka and topped with Red Wine. I have been in love with Blue Rita (names differ in different restaurants) since the time I first tried it out and this place sure did not disappoint me. However, I was little doubtful about Thai High as it had Red Wine, which I am not fond of. I usually prefer White Wine to Red. But, this particular cocktail was good enough to change my thoughts about Red Wine. It had a sweet tinge to it in between which made it enjoyable.

For starters, we were in a fix as the menu had too many dishes of our liking. So we chose the Veg Platter that had all the things that we wanted to try out. The platter consisted of Bruschetta, Hot Chilli Potatoes, Char Grilled Mushrooms, Paneer Bites, Paneer Shish Taquk, Potato Wedges, Chilli Garlic Mayo, Wasabi Mayo and Sour Cream. Yum!!! We just couldn't get over the platter. It was so yum, had it been our home, we would have licked our fingers and the plates as well. Trust me on this.

After the first set of our drinks were repeated and the happy hours ended, we were joined by more friends (They did not get a chance to try out the Veg Platter, we could share it with more people, you see). So, to accompany them (not really, we just wanted some more drinks) we ordered Watermelon Margarita and Fire On Ice. I would say Fire On Ice would be a real treat for those who love spicy flavours. It was Vodka spiked with Thai Chilli and Guava and for sure it took my friend to another world. She loves spicy stuff and this was a bliss for her. After trying it out, all she said was (for about ten times), "It's just YUMM". But my drink, Watermelon Margarita, was not upto the mark. It was chunks of watermelon blended with Tequilla and Triple Sec. It was too sweet for my taste and somehow didn't make me feel WOW. I would surely avoid it the next time.

Later, we moved on to the main course. Unfortunately, pizzas were not available yesterday and we decided on Sphagetti in White Sauce and Thai Red Curry with Rice. And I'm glad pizzas were not available. I have no words to describe the Sphagetti Pasta in White Sauce. It was so creamy and delicious and lip smacking and mouth-watering and what not. I felt so bad to have to share it. And, the Thai Red Curry was also worth its taste. But the pasta was just too good to have been avoided. When it comes to the quantity of the dishes, a single dish is enough for just one person after the drinks and starters.

In conclusion, I would recommend The United Sports Bar & Grill to all my friends. We didn't realize we had spent four hours there as the time just flew by with all the chit chat and yummy food. And, I'm sure to visit it again soon. Do try it out yourself and let me know what you think of this place. Till then,
Keep smiling as it is the curve which straightens everything in life... :)
